A long way to rebuilding

IMG_0465.jpg Since the last message about the renovation of our new palace, much has happened! On 21 September we have the house to its original state to show to friends, family and new neighbors during a reception. We have all attendees every nook and cranny of the house show and had hung sketches of what we were planning the spaces. While the adults drank a drink and use their imagination needed to make our plans for themselves could see the children with paint, markers and chalk fun on the wall in the living room. Beautiful and encouraging children's texts of our friends were the result!

IMG_0050.jpg After the drink is the demolition of the inside of the house really began. When we got after 3 weeks vacation, mid-October, came back in the house there were many containers of debris were removed and all partition walls, false ceilings, old plumbing and flooring all gone. The floors were on almost all floors open to a great extent because Martin (the plumber) and Jaap (the electrician) had begun to worry that we will soon gas, water, electricity and heating that meets the standards of this time (so slightly more than 3 groups existing electricity and no more water with lead in it). After 6 weeks of cables and pipes are pulling almost everywhere the walls and floors again and there are hundreds of meters of pipe for water and heating eliminated. Only in what will become the living room is the PVC pipe where the wiring must pass through are still fully visible. We must ask how soon Jaap sure (kilo) meter PVC pipe under the ground and later in the walls is eliminated. IMG_0060.jpg

In addition to these basic requirements of the housing are also the outlines of the areas now visible. On the bedroom floor is a beautiful custom closets that were built in the satin finish now even though it really looks like. In the back room on the first floor is a custom-made bookcase. The cabinet is beautiful and looks very robust and very strong. If the house collapses ever, we suspect that this cabinet will stand still standing. The bedroom at the front is the side room added to the program and there is a leeway that we will rightly be called the Master Bedroom. Especially in this time of year it is a magical room from our bed because we have a beautiful view of the giant Christmas tree in the square (which last week by the Mayor the lights are lit). Also, the concrete floor in the bathroom and the toilet dumped underway. The plumbing is not already installed but the spaces are in any case be adapted to modern times and tight gestuuct.

IMG_0114.jpg The kitchen on the ground floor is almost ready for laying the wooden floor in the week of 5 January comes. A week later, the kitchen and then placed over this floor is more or less ready. More or less, because the floor in the hallway is still preliminary and the garden is open, although cleared by a gardener, but we should really have a plan to make once. We too have rolled up their sleeves over the past weekend. We have all asbestos-containing materials that come out of the house (think flooring sail from the old bathrooms and kitchens) into sacks and transported to the landfill. We had not the most convenient weekends chosen for this job done because every time we took our masks were working in the garden it started snowing .....

IMG_0120.jpg The past 2 weeks are especially devoted to the attic. All between wandjes been removed (again a couple of containers full of debris) and a new hallway and about 3 rooms created by placing new walls. The boiler and boiler were installed this week, so we can slowly to the house a bit dry start heating (and that after that there are already dozens of bags of stucco material on the walls are lubricated sometimes necessary).

We have no definite date when we will move. That depends on the pace that can be made with the plastering, painting, tiling, installing the bathroom (s), construction of the separation en-suite and replacing the windows at the front (and many other smaller jobs such as depend on the doors, building retrofitting radiator cabinets, replacing planks in the wooden floors in some places their best time had had a while ago, etc.). And unfortunately we have no hurry because the sale of our current house was almost round but then came the credit crunch and the potential buyers were not the financing round. So if anyone has a nice 3-double house in the center of The Hague looking for, we have 1 in sales!

IMG_0080.jpg Every time we come to the PH5 really feels like our home. Our own palace! And are the men who work very hard at the first break and now rebuilding the house proud to show what the latest progress. If anyone ever has a builder, carpenter, electrician, plumber, painter, plasterer or tiler needs: we now know a few really good!
