Thursday morning we are, although it finally time is not needed, yet again woke up early. We conclude with 2 guests that morning dive to ride to the dive center and to retrieve our belongings. We pack our bags to and fro in, put some stamps from Geko Dive in our logs, go back to the hotel to have an extensive breakfast.
When we arrived at breakfast, we see that almost all the beds around the pool already been claimed by a towel to impose, while nearly everyone not currently sits on the bed but breakfast. Although we both find a sad state we decide to put down a towel and then breakfast. We already know from experience of the first day that a half day on a mattress in the grass is also no fun ....
For 12 hours Juriaan a Balinese massage. The Spa thought we would come in pairs, but Marije is not love massages, so Juriaan may do 2 massages in a row. After a half hour he returned with pain in his neck and back: so it has worked.
We light lunch at the pool because if we sit in restarant then let us be tempted to adopt a very extended lunch, because everything here is tasty, and we have an evening Chef's Dinner: 5 courses.
The Chef's Dinner was really delicious! There are 2 variants: an Oriental menu and a Western menu. We order from both 1 so we can taste everything. All 5 courses are delicious! We look forward to increasing the cooking class that Friday we will do under the guidance of the chef.
Friday morning we pack our bags, had breakfast and then depart with the chef, an Australian couple and a Swiss Garden Organic to the restaurant at our hotel, a few kilometers inland. We get dressed in boots and a Vietnamese hat, a tour of the garden and smell all crops and taking some bite. Then light the chef washed at a large table under a shed further and we get a stack of typical East-Balinese recipes to create.
We start by creating the basic spice mixture Bumbu. In a sort of large flat jack we make of what vegetables but spices to a paste. The chef has a few minutes a nice solid red-brown paste. With us, and especially Marije takes that much longer ... We sate, not a stick but a piece of lemon grass, we make 2 kippakketjes (one is steamed, the other gebarbequed), 2 vegetable dishes (one cold and one warm) and a dessert (pancakes with coconut and palm syrup). Finally, we each have our own Nasi Goreng.
The Nasi Goreng and all the other dishes we sit in the Bale, a traditional open uitruimte with a low table with cushions around it. As we eat our own cooking, but especially the delicious Balinese flavors and fresh ingredients from the garden.
Around 14 we go back to the hotel, swimming a little, take a shower and then to the airport. Our joint holiday is already over! We fly together to Singapore. Juriaan flies over an hour later to Amsterdam and Marije take a taxi to Sanne and Robert January
It was a wonderful holiday with superb diving, fine hotels and resorts, a golf course (with varying game from our side), great food and good company. Juriaan starts Monday for work again while Marije just 3 more weeks remain in Indonesia and another 40 dives make.
