Golfing in Bali

After the foot of Juriaan a few days we decided to have looked after a week in our villa with private pool in Seminyak for a few days to play golf on the west coast of Bali. Juriaan could walk much better but the foot was still wet. And after a few days paddling with 1 foot from the water or on his back in the shallow part of our swimming pool lie with 1 foot on the side we both look forward to spending some more active. On Wednesday we have to be picked by Le Meridien Nirwana Golf & Spa Resort . We had booked a package of 3 nights 2 times 18 hole golf. The hotel is huge with multiple pools, a spa, 4 restaurants and is next to one of the finest golf courses in Asia . We are immediately on Wednesdays to the golf course went a bit to arrive at the driving range. And that was after 4 months and Juriaan golf for more than a year Marije (on 9 holes in the Cameron Highlands) not included.

The next morning we had a tee time of 7:30. That seemed very favorable because you around lunch time and the worst heat back. But it was not really necessary because it was overcast and even rained a bit from time to time. We saw the sign at the golf course that we had to play along with 2 others and saw that we both really are not. So with just whining to the starter we could still play in pairs. Well, in pairs and each with its own caddy. And of course everything gata with a golf cart so the over 6.5 kilometer long walk the runway but a piece 2. It wanted the first few holes still too much for me and we were soon lost about 6 balls that were not found in the rice fields and in the rivers that crossed the golf course. But when we did not know that the worst is far had. The 6th hole is located directly at sea and you must turn over an inlet from the store to get onto the green. This again took about 5 balls The caddies were very happy patient, sometimes had to laugh and even gave us very useful tips on our game and the job. After an hour or 4, with a few holes at the end all went much better, we arrived tired but quite satisfied at the clubhouse. There you could have lunch overlooking the exit hole 5 was the hardest of the whole job. Because we had found it so much and we still have a day or 3 had no plan for the 18th we still wanted a few days diving in Bali, we have only a package of 3 nights and 2 times 18 holes booked .

The next morning we started at 7.40 hours, but weather was cloudy and rainy. The first 9 holes were Marije really a drama. The balls rolled in all directions (because the blows were so bad that flies out of the question was) and after 9 holes she even doubted whether they still wanted to play the next 9. And for a moment she had regretted that after this day, 2 times 18 holes had been made. But Juriaan went pretty good this morning so we decided anyway to play on. The second half of the track was better, but fortunately we already had the idea to the next day but one hour lessons.

On Saturday, we could not take lessons because the whole job was hired by a large group. So that was a day at the pool and Spa. And fortunately it was this day again some sunny and dry. Juriaan had his foot still in the context of so swimming was no question but comfortably on a beach with a fresh fruit juice and a beer later in the day was not a punishment

Sunday morning we took an hour first lesson, which our game initially seemed to be not much better. But when the afternoon we went on the orbit, it was still considerably better than the days before and were even a number of holes and we could play par!

Monday was our last golf day was our start time and again early in the morning, at 7.20 pm. It went with ups and downs, but again we could both play a few holes par, so we could not complain.

Throughout the hotel, evening sorts of activities but we had fun generally best with a few drinks in the lounge bar and then dine in one of the restaurants, or enjoy room service to order and the Formula 1 Grand Prix France lazy on the couch in our excutive suite to watch.

Today we travel to Tulamben for another 3 days to go diving on the Liberty, a large American wreck off the east coast of Bali with Tulamben Wreck Divers . And then we fly to Singapore to the 22nd for a few days to spend at Sanna, Robert-Jan, July and Olle. Today we have exactly one week to go of our 4 months. The time has flown by and we'd like this for a few months to cling to stick, but unfortunately that does not. And hey, on the other hand, it is also fun to go home and take the thread to resume. But until that first time enjoy a week of diving and Singapore!
